Computing Summit – Tuesday, June 28, 2011 – Burlingame, Calif.

Acton, Mass. – June 21, 2011 eIQnetworks, Inc., a leading provider of unified situational awareness solutions, today announced that chief security and compliance officer, John Linkous, will be speaking on the privacy and compliance panel during the mobile security workshop at the Mobile Computing Summit on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in Burlingame, Calif. The presentation will address the value of situational awareness, how this new concept is transforming information security and specific, real-world implementations that can minimize insider threats for mobile users. The event, running Tuesday, June 28 – Thursday, June 30, focuses on the use of mobile computing in the enterprise with an emphasis on the management of mobile computers and associated security.

WHO:     John Linkous, Chief Security and Compliance Officer, eIQnetworks, Inc.

WHAT:   Speaking on “Situational Awareness in Mobile Computing” on the privacy and compliance panel at the Mobile Computing Summit (Session 4)

WHEN:   Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. PDT

WHERE: Hyatt Regency, San Francisco Airport, Burlingame, Calif.

Mobile computing technologies represent a rapidly-growing challenge for security, privacy and compliance within the enterprise. Circumventing traditional network perimeter security including firewalls, IDS/IPS and others, mobile computing devices often contain confidential data but are directly touched by end users, unlike servers and databases, which are managed by IT teams. In addition to situational awareness, defined as having thorough visibility across the entire spectrum of an enterprise IT environment, the presentation also addresses the need for continuous monitoring in mobile computing, including how to make the process more efficient, allowing limited resources and personnel to go further.

John Linkous has nearly two decades of technology management experience with his career spanning roles that include CIO, CISO, CTO and security analyst in federal and commercial enterprises. John was co-founder at Technology Workflow Solutions, international IT consulting firm where he was CTO, CISO and consultant to Fortune 500 organizations. He was CIO of The Widmeyer Group, one of the nation’s largest privately-held public relations firms. John began his career as a network engineering consultant at NASA where he was the recipient of Goddard Space Flight Center’s individual “Contractor of the Year” award in 1994.

The chairperson of the privacy and compliance panel is Peter Christy, principal at Internet Research Group. For more information on the Mobile Computing Summit, visit: www.mobilecomputingsummit.com
